This week we have been looking at factors of numbers and how to find all of the answers with the given strategies..  You have been set 2dos on purple mash including:  factors and sorting 2,3,4 and 10 times tables.

Please also continue to practice your times tables on Times tables Rockstars.

Autumn Term:

Thank you for all your support with the children’s learning this term, we have already seen some wonderful progress! We really value the importance of spending quality time with families over the coming weeks and the children most certainly deserve a break! Therefore there will be no homework set for the holidays. If you’d like to share anything special you get up to, please feel free to upload any photos to dojo for us. We will be having a break too but would love to see them when we return in the new year. Merry Christmas- have a wonderful break from all of Team Inspire

Friday 8th December 2023 - Due in on Friday 15th December

This term we have been focusing on multiplication and division.  We would like to you consolidate your understanding by completing a selection of activities based on this.  You may choose to do more than 1 activity this week to practice your multiplication skills.

Friday 1st December 2023 - Due in on Friday 8th December 2023

We have attached multiplication games for you to play at home with your family.  Please choose a selection of games to practise your recall.

Friday 24th November 2023 - Due in by Friday 1st December

You have been set some 2Dos on purple mash.  These are related to the multiplication facts that we have been covering.  Look at any of the facts that you have been struggling with and practice them at home.

Friday 17th November - please upload to dojo by Friday 24th November 2023

We have moved onto our new unit in maths which focuses on multiplication and division. This is an extended unit which will continue for 3 or 4 more weeks after Christmas also.  Until Christmas, we will be mainly concentrating on multiplication facts and the corresponding division facts. In January we will move on to informal and formal written multiplication and division.  Please see the attached knowledge organiser for guidance.

The more TTRS and other times table practice the children can do, the better!

The homework task this week focuses on 6 times table and division facts.  The questions get progressively more challenging.  The children are familiar with the following challenges:

Bronze - start at Q1

Silver - start at Q3

Gold -  start at Q5

The children should work through the questions for 20minutes or until they complete the sheet. Also attached are some reasoning and problem solving questions which require the children to answer but also EXPLAIN.

Friday 10th November - to be completed  by Friday 17th November 2023

There are some 2Dos set on Purple Mash this week linked to our learning about area.  There is also a multiplication quiz which mimics the Multiplication Tables Check that takes place in June.  This is a recurring 2Do so the children will be able to have a go at this weekly if they would like in order to practise their speed of recall and input.

Additionally, I have added in a Stone Age information text and follow up quiz.  Nothing to do with maths but some of the children may like to look at this as we have started our Prehistoric Britain topic this week.  This task is optional.

Friday 3rd November - please upload to dojo by Friday 10th November 2023

We have started a very short unit on area at the end of this week.  Please select from the Bronze, Silver or Gold challenges in the document below to answer questions about comparing area.

Half term homework:

Please take some time to go onto TTRS to build up your recall and speed.  There are also some links below to other ways to strengthen your times table knowledge. If you would like some reinforcement of the addition and subtraction unit we have been covering in our lessons, there are some 2Dos on Purple Mash also.  Enjoy!

Friday 13th October 2023 - please upload to dojo by Friday 20th October 2023

This week in maths we have begun our addition and subtraction unit.  The following challenges involve using column addition. Also below is a knowledge organiser for the unit, which summarises the key concepts we will be covering.

Friday 6th October 2023 - Please upload to dojo by Friday 13th October 2023

The children have been rounding numbers in class this week.  We have explored rounding to the nearest 10, 100 and 1000. Please encourage the children to play this rounding game with you or an older sibling at home and upload a photo of the activity.

Bronze - use the rounding to the nearest 10 cards and a number line for support if needed: circle the number on the number line and then see which multiple of ten it sits in between.  Whichever it is closer to, that's what we round it to.

Silver - use the rounding to the nearest 100 cards.  Remember: look at the tens digit.  Below 5 - round down, 5 or above - round up.

Gold - use a combination of both sets of cards for a mixture of rounding questions!

Friday 29th September 2023 – to be completed by Friday 6th October 2023

For maths this week I have set some ‘2Dos’ on Purple Mash.  Log ins are stuck inside the front cover of reading records.

The 2Dos will reinforce learning on our place value topic so far. There is no need to upload anything to dojo, as I will be notified on Purple Mash when the tasks have been completed.

Friday 15th September 2023 - please upload to dojo by Friday 22nd September 2023

To reinforce the children's learning about number lines to 1000, please select either the bronze, silver or gold challenge on the document below.

Friday 22nd September 2023 - please upload to dojo by Friday 29th September 2023

This week the children have explored flexible partitioning of numbers.

For example, 3467 can be partitioned in the traditional way like this: 3467 = 3000 + 400 + 60 + 7.

With flexible partitioning, we could do this: 3467 = 2000 + 1400 + 60 + 7

Or this: 3467 = 1000 + 2007 + 460

Or many other ways!

The children should choose the challenge level they feel suits their level of understanding.  The silver and gold tasks involve more reasoning and problem solving style questions, where explanations are required.
