As writers, we have continued to explore how to write stories in KS1. 

Year 1 have been learning the story 'Monkey See, Monkey Do'

Year 2 have been learning the story 'The Papaya Who Spoke'

This week we would like the children to think about alternative words for 'said' such as shouted or asked.

Bronze - to talk with an adult to discuss synonyms for 'said'.

Silver - to make a mind map of synonyms for 'said'.

Gold - to write sentences, using synonyms for 'said'

An example of this:

"Oh no it isn't" whispered the dog.

"Give me back my hat" shouted the man.

Padlock challenge - Children can add adverbs to describe the action that they use

An example of this:

"That is my hat" shouted the man angrily.

 "Did you say that?" the farmer whispered quietly.
