Governors

Welcome to the King’s Court First School Governors

Our Governors have links locally as well as links with the school as current or past parents and as volunteers, community members, members from business and from the Local Authority.  Coming from a variety of professions and backgrounds, governors bring with them different perspectives to support the school in a variety of ways.

The governing body is generally responsible for the conduct and strategic direction of the school with a view to promoting high standards of education with a responsibility to ensure that all statutory obligations for pupils and staff are met as well as managing finances prudently. Meetings are held regularly and are supported by the Clerk to Governors.

Neil Dodds

Chair of Governors

Link Roles: HT Appraisal/H&S/ Safeguarding/SEND/Speech & Language

I’ve been a governor since 2004 when my sons attended the school.  One was diagnosed with ADHD so I’ve some knowledge of the hard work staff put in to help every child to achieve their best especially to the introduction of their learning journey. For over 40 years I have worked for the Crown Estate and am currently Head Gardener of Frogmore.  I support the school in all aspects and attend governor trainings regularly.

Lynne Jones

Chair of Finance Committee

Link Roles: Pay Panel

I have lived in and always been involved in local village community since 1979 when my parents took over the Oxford Blue public house. I work in the finance sector, but have experience in customer services and pre-school teaching. I provide financial services for small/medium sized companies. I joined the Parish Council in 2004 and was elected as an Independent Borough Councillor in 2011. I become a governor for the school in 2011 taking on responsibility for Finance. As Local Authority governor I also provide a link to the Local council to further the school aspirations. I support the school Leadership team to inspire and challenge every pupil to be the best they can.

Helen Canning

Link Roles: English / Early Years

I have lived in Old Windsor for 35 years and been a governor at the school for four.  Whilst both my sons were educated at the school I was involved in the PTA which I later became chair of.  I also worked as a Teaching Assistant and in the school office for a period.  I have strong connections with Windsor Festival which with my links benefit the school with arts and music.  I am currently responsible for English, History and Geography.

Joy Montgomery

Chair of Curriculum Committee

Link Roles: Arts/Music/Geography/History/RE

Having lived in Old Windsor for 24 years, I know how important a good First School is to the local community. I support the senior leadership team on policy matters and strategic direction and hold managers to account for the performance of the school. My career in industrial engineering, the food industry, garment and textile industry has been varied. Since 1990’s I have worked in further education and training specifically in apprenticeship and work-based learning. I was one of Her Majesty’s Inspectors for further education in OFSTED until 2017. I am now retired and enjoy volunteering and supporting the school.

Lee SullivanLink Roles: Modern Foreign Languages/PE/Pupil Premium/Wellbeing

I am an Old Windsor resident and Parent Governor.  I am Head of Physical Education at a local Grammar School, and have a passion for providing positive and meaningful experiences particularly in PE which nurtures physical literacy and builds the foundations for lifelong relationship in PE.  Volunteering our time and expertise within our local community is something we should all strive to do, where possible, and as a Parent Governor I am excited to support the hard-working staff, educate and inspire all students and continue the strong links of communication between parents and the school.

Monique Hutchinson-Lawson

Link Roles: SEND/History/Geography/RE

I moved to Old Windsor in 2010 and quickly grew fond of our warm and supportive village community. With 20 years of teaching experience and my current role as Deputy Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) in a local school, I am deeply committed to education, particularly for children with special needs. I firmly believe that every child deserves access to a nurturing, inclusive, and well-rounded education. As a parent governor, I am eager to work alongside an incredible team dedicated to making King's Court First School a safe and supportive environment where all children can learn, grow, and thrive. I look forward to strengthening the communication between school and home, as well as supporting our wonderful teachers in fostering a love of learning that is both enjoyable and inspiring for our children.
