Christmas 2019

Bumper News Item!

We would like to thank-you for all your generous gifts and messages of appreciation over the Christmas period.  Please be assured that personalised email messages were shared with the right people, it was so kind of you to take time to think of us.

There were many festive, creative learning opportunities shared with the children.  Our Christmas performances encouraged skills in:

English and The Arts: performing to an audience, learning and reciting words, designing costumes and stage props, music and song.

Santa's surprise shop: using money to buy presents, calculating amounts and checking change given.  Important mathematical life skills.

Extra curricular activities included a visit from the elf, who gave a book to every child in the school to further encourage a love of reading.  A visit from Santa who shared a gift with every class which was generously bought by the PTA.  Festive Film Night gave the children a chance to socialise with their peers and enjoy eating popcorn!

We were lucky to enjoy a live pantomime in the school hall.  Dick Whittington was a real hit with the children as a fun story telling experience and real life drama production.

At this time of year, thinking of others is particularly important.  We all supported Christmas Jumper Day to wear our jumpers and think of 'making the world a better place' in support of the Save the Children charity. A very worth while cause.

The lively key stage Christmas parties was another opportunity for the children to socialise with children from other classes.  We ended our festivities with a whole school Christmas lunch where crackers were pulled, music played and the children excitedly ate their food.  Thanks again to the PTA for supplying the table decorations.

We would like to take this opportunity to wish you all the best for 2020 and we look forward to welcoming you back to school on Tuesday 7th January.

Happy New Year!
