Spring Term 2

Friday 14th March 2025

This week we have studied how to subtract improper fractions.  Please have a go at the snakes and ladders game.  You can choose which version to complete. If you land on a question, subtract the two mixed numbers using a bar model or flexible partitioning. If you get the question right, you can stay on the number you landed on. If you get your question wrong, go back one space. If there is no question, move forward one space.

Friday 7th March 2025

This week we have focussed on improper fractions.  Please choose either 1 star, 2 star or 3 star to complete.  You need to check how to draw the fraction accurately.

Friday 28th February 2025

We have moved onto fractions.  Please complete the activity and colour the windows following what the fraction tell you.

Spring Term 1

Friday 14th February 2025

Please spend time over the holidays practising on TTRS.  Those who are doing at least those 10 minutes are showing huge improvements in their accuracy and speed of recall so continue doing this.

Friday 7th February 2025

This week we have moved onto perimeter.  Look at the website below to see what the perimeter is and complete the 2Do's on purple mash.

Friday 31st January 2025

This week we have practised division with 2 digits.  Please consolidate your understanding of division by playing this game.  Roll the dice and work out the division for each.

Friday 24th January 2025

This week we have moved onto formal methods of multiplication.  We first looked at the expanded method and if we felt secure we tried short multiplication.  The children were encouraged to sue the method that works for them.  Take a look at the video about short multiplication and complete the activity below.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/articles/zvg4bqt#zbp8mbk

The expanded method involved breaking downs the tens and ones.  For example:

24 x 2

I would write this in a column:  24

                                                 x2

I would start with the ones which is 2x4 =8.  Then I would work out the tens which is 2x20=40.  I add then together to get the solution which is 48.

If you feel secure with this then you can try with making your own 3 digit number and multiplying by 1 digit.

Friday 17th January 2025 - Due in Friday 24th January 2025

This week we have been looking at dividing by 100.  Practise dividing larger numbers and showing what you did.

If you finish this, you could try dividing thousands and write your own calculations. Eg.  16000 divided by 100.
