Spring Term 2

Friday 14th March 2025

This week we have completed activities in PE around our heart rate and how exercise can affect this.  Your activity is to find your heart rate and then test it after doing exercise.

Then you need to write up what you found whilst doing this.  See if you can include scientific words about what happened.

Friday 7th March 2025

This week we looked at alliteration.  This is a well-known writing tool where an author puts together two or more words with the same first letter or sound. The words do not have to be right next to one another. This helps to create a pleasant sound when the words are read and adds to the atmosphere.  Please complete the activity.

Friday 28th February 2025

This term we are looking at the Anglo Saxons.  Please complete the reading comprehension that looks into this and why they are prominent.

Spring Term 1

Friday 14th February 2025

This week the children completed activities on Safer internet day.  Use everything you know about the potential risks and hazards of life online and create an award-winning Safer Internet Day poster. Make it stand out to catch other people’s attention and help them learn more about how to stay safe online.

Friday 7th February 2025

This week we have been writing our own versions of Little Red Riding Hood.  We have focussed on speech marks when someone is talking.  Look at the sentences and put the speech marks in.

To push yourself you can then edit your sentences to give more information.

Friday 31st January 2025

This week the six nations will be starting so we would like the children to complete the reading comprehension based on this.  Please select a text and questions to respond to.

Friday 24th January 2025

This week we have looked at improving a description.  We would like you to select a photo from the attached document and write a description about what you can see.

Try and use:

  • Exciting adjectives
  • Different sentence starters
  • Similes

 

Please record your writing on paper or type.

This week we have started looking at Little Red Riding Hood as a narrative story.  We would like you to familiarise yourself with the story and understand what happens.  Please read the story and choose questions to respond to.

Christmas Holiday Homework

 

We would like to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you for all your support with homework this term. 

 

Christmas is such a special time to relax and enjoy time with loved ones, and the children (and adults!) deserve a well earned break!. We will not be setting any homework over the holidays. The children are welcome to share what they have been up to over the holidays on Class Dojo. The teachers will also be having a break too so will respond to anything that is uploaded over the holidays when we return in January 

 

Continue to enjoy reading, playing games and having lots of festive fun.

 

From the teaching team at King's Court, we will all our families a very Merry Christmas and we will see you again in the new year.

Friday 13th December 2024

This week will be the last week for homework.  We would like you to spend time with your families over Christmas so are not doing any homework over Christmas.

We are asking the children to design a dino for Philip Kavvadias's new book.  He visited us earlier in the year and the children were thrilled to hear his adventures.  Please scroll down in the document to page 9 where the competition is explained.  The children will then fill in the sheet on page 10.  If you would like to enter your child's design then please follow the instructions on the document.

This week we have started to look at advent and what the traditions are.  Please complete the comprehension activities and read the text through.

Friday 29th November 2024

Instruction to make a Stone Age house.  Please continue the homework from last week.  When you have made your Stone Age house please write instruction for this.  You can bring in your Stone Age houses from next week.

Friday 22nd November 2024

This term we have been learning about the Stone Age.

We would like you do make your own Stone Age house using natural materials.  Please use the fact sheet to understand what Stone Age houses were.

Please present your house on a cardboard base.  After this, we would like you to write instructions about how to make your Stone Age house.  Think about the layout of your instructions and what imperative verbs you could include.  Please write your instructions on the attached sheet.  This is a bigger project so we are going to set this homework for 2 weeks.  This gives you the time to make your Stone Age house in the first week and then write the instructions in the second week.

This week we have been looking at anti-bullying.  We would like you do make your own poster about antibullying.  Think about hope you will attract your audience, what words you could include and what facts could be on them.  This work can be presented in any way you want on paper. Please use the attached document for ideas.

This week we would like you to complete the firework comprehension.  Please look at all of the questions and write full sentences.

Over the half term we would like you to do a reading comprehension about Halloween.  Please look at the words that you don't know and see if you can find the definition.

This week we had an assembly about Black History month.  Black History Month is celebrated each year in October to remember moments in history, achievements and contributions that black people have made in the United Kingdom.  Please look at the website below and use this as a starting point for your own research:

In Science we have been looking at our teeth and how they work.  Please read the text and answer questions relating to what you have seen.  If you would like to challenge yourself, please have a go at 3 star.

Friday 4th October 2024

Please choose a poem from the selection.  Read through your poem first to ensure you understand it.  Have a look for unfamiliar words and look up the meaning.  Then practise reading your poem before recording your performance by an adult.  Think about the performance poetry checklist when delivering your response.

This week we have started out work on poetry.  We have been learning about list poems and what criteria is needed in them.

Your activity is to write a list poem about ten things found in our local area.  This could be:

Use the homework sheet as a prompt to help you.  You can present your poem on paper and illustrate around your work.
