Phonics
Phonics
As part of your child's continued phonics learning this year, children will be practicing their phonics sounds everyday, this maybe within class or with a smaller group. Each week the children will bring home a book they have been reading in their phonic group to read to you at home. The children should be reading with fluency and understanding. In particular, year 1s will be expected to sit the phonics screening check in the summer term to assess their current understanding of phonics and reading in KS1. If your child does not reach the pass mark in year 1, they will have another try in year 2. Please continue to practice phonics sounds at home. In addition, it would be great practice to go through a previous phonics screening check with your child at home.
You can also find out a little more about the phonic screening check in the parents tab, parent workshops. Where you will find a copy of the presentation we delivered in the Autumn term.
