This week the children have started to rewrite sentences from the beginning of the story. Can the children have a go at writing the introduction to the story?
They could challenge themselves by adding in additional words to describe the man, or the cart or the hats. They should use their phonetical knowledge to write their sentences, remembering a capital letter, finger spaces and a full stop. For children who may find this a little tricky they could write the adjectives of their choice in to the sentences.
For example:
Once upon a time there was a tall man who sold colourful hats. One day he was travelling through the spooky forest when his old cart hit a large stone in the road.
