Governors

Welcome to the King’s Court First School Governors

Our Governors have links locally as well as links with the school as current or past parents and as volunteers, community members, members from business and from the Local Authority.  Coming from a variety of professions and backgrounds, governors bring with them different perspectives to support the school in a variety of ways.

The governing body is generally responsible for the conduct and strategic direction of the school with a view to promoting high standards of education with a responsibility to ensure that all statutory obligations for pupils and staff are met as well as managing finances prudently. Meetings are held regularly and are supported by the Clerk to Governors.

Vision Statement

Our vision is to provide a safe, caring and stimulating environment where each child will recognise and achieve their full potential, so that they can make their best contribution to society.

Intent

Aim: Governors support the Headteacher, Senior Leaders, and staff by:

  • Setting strategic direction for the school, and contribute to the school’s improvement plan
  • Ensuring accountability, and to monitor and evaluate school performance
  • Monitoring the school’s finances to ensure value for money
  • and to support the provision for all round education for all pupils.

"Those with responsibility for governance carry out their statutory duties effectively. They check on the quality of the school’s work carefully and have a clear understanding of what is working well and what needs to improve further."

Meet Our Governors

Our Governors

Neil Dodds

Chair of Governors

Link Roles: HT Appraisal/H&S/ Safeguarding/Inclusion

I became a Governor at the school after my second son left the school in 2004 and soon after became Chair. I am passionate about the education and wellbeing of all the pupils and supportive of our equally passionate staff. I have a particular interest in SEND as my youngest son was diagnosed with ADHD whilst at the school, so understand and appreciate the time and recourses needed to help pupils access the curriculum to enable them to have the best start to their educational journey. I am now retired after working for the Crown Estate for 45 years, mostly in Frogmore, the private garden for the Royal Family. I attend RBWM Governor Services training regularly, also on-line courses run by The National College, to keep up to date with changes in Education. I am a member of the RBWM Safeguarding in Education subgroup.

Lynne Jones

Chair of Resources Committee

Link Roles: Pay Panel, Finance

I have lived in and always been involved in local village community since 1979 when my parents took over the Oxford Blue public house. I work in the finance sector, but have experience in customer services and pre-school teaching. I provide financial services for small/medium sized companies. I joined the Parish Council in 2004 and was elected as an Independent Borough Councillor in 2011. I become a governor for the school in 2011 taking on responsibility for Finance. As Local Authority governor I also provide a link to the Local council to further the school aspirations. I support the school Leadership team to inspire and challenge every pupil to be the best they can.

Joy Montgomery

Chair of Curriculum

Link Roles: Curriculum Development, Attendance and Behaviour & Allergies

Having lived in Old Windsor for 24 years, I know how important a good First School is to the local community. I support the senior leadership team on policy matters and strategic direction and hold managers to account for the performance of the school. My career in industrial engineering, the food industry, garment and textile industry has been varied. Since 1990’s I have worked in further education and training specifically in apprenticeship and work-based learning. I was one of Her Majesty’s Inspectors for further education in OFSTED until 2017. I am now retired and enjoy volunteering and supporting the school.

Monique Hutchinson-Lawson

Link Roles: SEND, Personal Development and Wellbeing

I moved to Old Windsor in 2010 and quickly grew fond of our warm and supportive village community. With 20 years of teaching experience and my current role as Deputy Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) in a local school, I am deeply committed to education, particularly for children with special needs. I firmly believe that every child deserves access to a nurturing, inclusive, and well-rounded education. As a parent governor, I am eager to work alongside an incredible team dedicated to making King's Court First School a safe and supportive environment where all children can learn, grow, and thrive. I look forward to strengthening the communication between school and home, as well as supporting our wonderful teachers in fostering a love of learning that is both enjoyable and inspiring for our children.

Ambika Suri Link Roles: Achievement

I have always believed that education has the power to shape lives, build confidence and create opportunities for every child to reach their full potential. I am passionate about ensuring that children learn in a safe, inclusive and nurturing environment where they feel valued, supported and inspired to succeed.

I am therefore, delighted to serve as a Parent Governor at King's Court First School. Professionally, my background is in strategic leadership, programme management and partnership working across both the public and private sectors, where I have led complex programmes, built collaborative relationships and worked to deliver positive outcomes for communities.

I look forward to working collaboratively with the Headteacher, staff, fellow governors and the wider school community, using both my professional experience and my perspective as a parent to support the school's continued success and help ensure the very best outcomes for every pupil.
