Welcome

A Warm Welcome from the Headteacher

Caring, Sharing and Learning Together!

Ready, Respectful, Safe!

It is my pleasure to welcome you to King’s Court First School, a small, friendly village school in the heart of Old Windsor. We educate children aged 4 to 9 years, and pride ourselves on being a caring, inclusive community where every child feels valued and supported.

At King’s Court, our aim is simple: to provide every child with the best possible academic, social, and moral education. Our ethos is built on care, respect, and consideration for others, creating an environment where children are happy, confident, and ready to learn. We encourage self-awareness, responsibility, and informed decision-making—skills that will serve them throughout life.

A Rich and Creative Curriculum

We believe learning should be memorable and inspiring. Our curriculum offers creative experiences both inside and outside the classroom, enriched by strong community links and exciting opportunities such as:

  • Sports partnerships and competitions through the Windsor Sports Partnership
  • History and drama workshops
  • Regular visits from the local Reverend and strong links with the local church
  • Trips to historic landmarks including Windsor Castle, Runnymead, and Great Windsor Park
  • Swimming lessons for Key Stage 2 at Eton College
  • Cultural experiences, French lessons, and charity events supporting NSPCC and Macmillan Cancer Support

Our expansive grounds include three playgrounds, a mud kitchen, an art studio, and a mud kitchen—providing space for creativity and exploration. We also offer wrap-around care through Gap Club, with breakfast from 7:30am and after-school care until 6:30pm, plus a variety of extra-curricular clubs such as IRock (real rock band experience) and Art Club.

Pastoral Care and Wellbeing

We are proud to be an Attachment Aware School, achieving the Gold Award in 2024–25 and working towards Platinum. Our trauma-informed approach ensures every child feels safe and supported. Strategies such as calm corners, nurture groups, and programmes like My Happy Minds help children regulate emotions and build resilience. Our motto—Ready, Respectful, Safe—underpins everything we do.

Preparing for the Future

We want our children to develop mastery across the curriculum and the confidence to follow their dreams—whether as historians, scientists, artists, or in careers yet to be invented! Our goal is to create lifelong learners who contribute positively to society.

Curriculum Updates: What’s New Nationally?

The government has announced the most significant curriculum reforms in over a decade, aimed at modernising learning and equipping children with skills for life and work. These reforms will begin rolling out over the coming years and include:

  • Stronger foundations in reading, writing, oracy and maths across all primary ages
  • New focus on media literacy, helping children identify misinformation and stay safe online
  • Financial literacy and life skills from an early age. With an aim to ensure children leave school with the confidence and knowledge to manage money effectively in real life
  • Strengthening of Year 4 writing assessments to better prepare pupils for middle school
  • Enhanced arts and cultural provision, with creative subjects recognised as central to a balanced education

These national developments align closely with our existing ethos—ensuring children become confident, articulate, digitally aware learners, ready for a rapidly changing world.

What Ofsted Says

“Children get off to a great start in the early years. Lessons are calm, pupils concentrate and try their best. The curriculum is ambitious and rich, and pupils’ personal development is a significant strength.” (Ofsted, May 2025)

At King’s Court, we have much to celebrate—not least our beautiful setting and strong partnerships with parents. Our shared aim is simple: for every child to be happy coming into school and happy going home.
