This week we have been learning about adjectives and using a thesaurus to make our word choices more exciting.
We would like the children to write exciting sentences about their favourite animals.
For example: The big, hairy, brown bear.
Use the Powerpoint below to remind the children about adjectives.
Bronze: to write simple sentences that include at least one adjective. For example: The black cat.
Silver: to write sentences that include at least one adjective and describing where they are. For example: The tiny black cat on the mat.
Gold: to write exciting sentences that describe the animal and where they are. For example: The tiny, black cat in the warm, cosy bed was watching the grey mouse.
Top tip: Ask the children to orally rehearse their sentence first- say it a few times before they write it. If they are unsure on a word when writing it, encourage them to pinch the sounds on their fingers. Before the children get started remind them to use a capital letter, finger spaces and a full stop.
