Jim threw the rope to some children who were playing chasing on the bank.  He then got off to check the boat.  Augustus clenched his teeth as they began to chatter.  Jim returned with a long chain.  "The crash has knocked paint off the boat.  As a punishment," he said, "I am going to chain you to the rail, then you can repair the boat as we go along.  Be quick, we are making for the English Channel."
