With a snarl, the black dog rushed to snatch the bag.  The seagull zoomed into the sky, alarmed but unharmed.  It gave a screech and the plastic bag dropped into the canal.  Augustus saw his new scarlet vests and pants sink into the darkness of the water.  "Don't stand there, Gus," snarled Jim.  "Kneel here and grab this wheel."
