9th March

This week we have been looking at time words to sequence ideas in time order. When we write a newspaper report it is important that when we recount the event that it is told in the order that it happened.

This week for their writing homework we would like then to choose a part of their day to retell in time order using time words to start their sentences. They may want to choose their morning or evening routine before or after school, a part of their weekend day, or any other part of their day they would like to share. There is a template if the children would like it with some boxes to draw a picture and write a sentence underneath. The children have been brilliant at coming up with lots of their own time words and there is a set of time words included for them to select their own.

Bronze- to write a sentence that starts with a time word such as 'first' 'then' 'next' 'finally'

Silver- to include time words and a variety of verbs to describe the actions in your activities

Gold- to include a time phrase such as 'later that day' 'a few hours later'
