24th June
Our final piece of writing this year is a piece of descriptive writing based on a book called Tuesday by David Wiesner. This is a wordless story book so it is open to much interpretation about how the story goes. We are revisiting some key SPaG concepts and word types to really focus on improving the quality of our sentences. We will be looking at:
Expanded Noun Phrases
Interesting Adjectives
Exciting Verbs
Adverbs
This week we have taken pictures from the story to generate a list of nouns and adjectives then used these to write our own expanded noun phrases. Below is a picture from the text that the children can use to write some of their own expanded noun phrases. An example of this would be:
The bright, old TV
The sleepy, old person
We have worked on really challenging the types of words that we use to try and make our writing more interesting. Attached are some word mats to help with some ideas for some interesting adjectives.
