This week we have been learning how to expand a noun phrase. Examples of noun phrases in their simplest form are phrases such as:
the girl
a bus
an elephant
the classroom
We have been working on expanding noun phrases by adding adjectives to describe the noun. If we use more than one adjective, we need to separate them using a comma. Here are some examples of expanded noun phrases:
the sweet, helpful girl
a yellow bus
an old, grey elephant
the quiet, hard-working classroom
For their homework this week, we would like the children to practice expanding noun phrases by using adjectives. Below are the adjectives word mats we have used in class to try and include some more exciting vocabulary choices. The challenges are set out below.
