Lesson 1: Create your own character

This week, we're going to take a look at changing parts of the story to make your own version. At the moment, 'Baby Bear' is the main character, however we would like you to create your own main character. Your main character could be a teddy bear, an animal or a person. 

 

Things to consider: 

yes Is your character an animal or a person?

yes What is your character's name?

yes Which adjectives could you use to describe your character?

 

Challenges: 

Bronze: To use 5 adjectives to describe your character

Silver: To use 10 adjectives to describe you character 

Gold: To use a thesaurus to find amazing adjectives

Lesson 2: Planning Your Own Version of the Story

Let's have a go at planning your own version of the story, 'Whatever Next'. Please take a look at the Story Mountain template below and plan out your own story. When you write your own version of the story, please change an element of the story e.g. create a new character or change the setting. 

 

 

Challenges: 

Bronze: To use colourful semantics to write sentences about the story.

Silver: To change 1 part of the story and plan your own version.

Gold: To change 2 parts of the story and plan your own version.

Activity: 

Lesson 3 & 4: Write your own version of the story 

Let's reflect on your story plan. How many aspects of the story 'Whatever Next' did you change? Today, we're going to begin writing your own version of the story. Try to follow the same order of events in the story 'Whatever Next', but include your creative changes. 

 

For example: 

Old Version: "Can I go to the moon?" asked Baby Bear. 

New Version: "Can I go to the beach?" asked Baby Tiger. 

 

Old Version: "No you can't' said Mrs Bear. 

"It's bathtime. Anyway, you'd have to find a rocket first."

New Version: "No you can't" said Mrs Tiger. "It's bathtime.

Anyway, you'd have to find a spaceship first."

 

Challenges: 

Bronze: To use colourful semantics cards to write sentences. 

Silver: To change 1 part of the story and write in your own words.

Gold: To change 2 parts of the story and write in your own words.
