10th June

for the final writing focus for this term we are going to be looking at descriptive writing. This will give the children an opportunity to bring together so many of the skills we have learnt to demonstrate their improved sentence structure and to add lots of exciting detail to make it interesting for the reader.

I have attached an activity called 'A sentence a Day' the chidren are given a visual stimulus and they are to use it to write a descriptive sentence. Please only choose one of the sheets for the children to complete of their choice. Some of the ones at the beginning have word banks to support their word choices if they feel they need it.

It would be great for them to think about the following:

exciting adjectives

a conjunction to extend their idea

a noun phrase

an exciting verb

So if they were looking at a picture of a castle they could write:

The elegant castle was sitting proudly on top of the enchanted hill which sparkled in the late sunlight.

Please upload your 5 sentences to dojo for us to see how they have got on.
